March 2007
Recently my commute has changed and I now drive over the Williamsburg Bridge at least once a day. The Williamsburg Bridge is free so I much prefer that route across the East River but on some days it seems like half of New York prefers that route as well. So if traffic is heavy heading into work or if I am running a few minutes behind than I will take the Queens Midtown Tunnel guided by my ezpass.
Several months back a friend of mine mentioned the 3 Bridges in a photo during a conversation about photographs of the Brooklyn Bridge. There are quite a few pictures from the air of this. Later that week I searched on the Internet and saw that I might be able to get a angle/ composition with the 3 bridges of the lower east side from the South Street Seaport.
And now with my recent new commute into lower Manhattan I left for work a bit earlier and decided to head to the South Street Seaport for some quick shots. I only had about 10 minutes to shoot which included the time walking from the car and back. I am still getting use to the new commute and thought I would actually have more time.
I shot several photos and came out with this composition from which I stood on a bench. From what some friends have told me this might be a summons in NYC: Improper use of a Park Bench.
I had only my 50mm lens and when the weather gets warmer I think I will shoot at this location again but at night and bring my zoom lens. The temperature the past couple days (of early March 2007) has been in the low teens (on the Fahrenheit scale).
